H Mn-ers

I have a mindee who is 18 months, he climbs on everything and falls over his own feet, he has banged his head so many times and ive filled out 2 accident forms in the past 10 days, now I need to fill out another one as he has banged his head on the small chairs. He is fine no injury but just a red graze on his head. I am feeling really down about it, I am ensuring that the place is safe but he still keeps falling. Sad Sad

does he fall alot at home
i wouldnt be concered really as his age they often fall but if its getting you down thats not good Sad

normal normal normal

you will also find that he has a spate of falling when he gets new shoes/wears wellies for the first time in ages/runs on lumpy grass

he will learn to put hands down to break his falls, all part of the learning process

there are things that you can do - prevent him climbing on furniture, gate off the stairs, move chairs so that he can't scramble up onto the table (house rules, really)

Yep, as musing said, sounds normal. I currently have a 17 month old and she scares me to death, you forget they have a "go for it" approach without the fear factor.

Falling and bumping also accompanies growth spurts, if they sprout up quickly, the brain doesn't adapt as quickly, hence not being so steady for a while.

Chat to mum about it, tell her you feel awful that he keeps falling about, tell her how you are trying to minimise any accidents, she might be glad that you are concerned and communicating with her.

I told the mum of my mindee that she worries me (in a natural way) and I am consciously taking steps to minimise any accidents, she was very understanding.

thanks for your replies, mum is really lovely, I couldn't ask for a better parent to be working with.

Yes I did tell her about being worried and feeling really bad about it keep happening, the chairs have now been taken out and have told her I am doing everything I possibly can to minimise accidents.
