Invoicing

Just started chilminding and want to know when to give a parent the invoice for November, to be paid one month in advance.

How many days beforehand should it be given. Shall I give it to them befor half term ?

Is it normal to ask to be paid on/by the first of the month ? They're paying with childcare vouchers.

TIA

I give out invoices on the 20th of the month for paying on the 1st, but I ask the parents to hold back vouchers for a month, so they would pay Decembers with Novembers vouchers, as depending on the voucher company they can take up to a week to come through.

The parents should have been saving the vouchers a month before they started with you so they are already in their account.
I would give them the invoice before half term as it takes up to a week for the money to hit your account by the 1st, in other words they will have to do the transfer on monday of half term.
If they haven't been saving their vouchers then they may not receive them until their pay goes through on the 1st so they will then have to give you a cheque or cash otherwise you will never catch up.
The onus is on the parent to pay you regardless of when they get paid.
I ask my parents to transfer every 2 weeks as I find it easier to keep track of.

Exactly the same as Shoshe. My invoices went out today and need to be paid into my bank account by 1st Nov (or cash given by that date). I also have the bit in my policies about vouchers but that's probably because Shoshe sent me her wonderful handbook yonks ago Grin
