Sharing nanny at other employer's house?

Hello,

I am considering sharing a nanny with another mum, and my DD would be looked after at their house. The nanny would get a bit more money and the other mum would save a bit.

I am just thinking about insurance/registration, is anything extra needed? Is it even allowed?

Also if anyone does this, how did you work out the fees? I was thinking if each us paid 75% of the current rate, then the nanny get 150% or something like that.

Thanks

As long as the nanny does not have a child of their own, then it does not need Childminder registration.

Nannies these days often have public liability insurance. If you are in England and intend to part-pay using Childcare Vouchers, then the nanny will need to register with Ofsted, which would mean that they would need to have insurance as Ofsted won't register without it.

The other family will have Employers liability insurance as part of their household contents policy.

No idea on fees... but keep in mind that you don't really get any benefits out of it over using an Childminder - as you will still be needing to take your DD to that home... so you could not leave her asleep.

Saying how old the children involved are may help - as there can be logistical issues when caring for several pre-school aged children... such as needing multiple car seats, highchairs etc.

Excellent, thanks so much for your help. The two children are 3 and a bit, and at the same preschool which is why it would be great to share as the pick up time & place is a bit awkward. My DD doesn't have naps so sleep not a problem.
