Childminder contract and being out of work

My DS goes to a childminder. I have just changed the contract as I started a new job in August. However, it looks like the company is in trouble and I'm not sure I'll be there much longer.

I've signed a 12 month contract with the child minder. What happens? Can I cancel it?

There must be a notice period?

there should be notice periods clearly laid out in your contract with he childminder. Mine are 4 weeks from either of us to end the arrangement.

Do you have your copy of the contract?

I'll have to dig it out. I think in my panic I am being dim and assumed that I was signed up for 12 months!

There should definitely be a notice period. Also it's rare for contracts to be fixed term like that - do double check the terms!

Agree with others. By 12 month contract could you be getting confused with maybe she reviews it after 12 months? Usually always a notice period on it, standard is around 4 weeks.
