Have parents got to terminate their contract with you in writing? If so what does the letter need to include?

THANKS IN ADVANCE Smile

Written confirmation makes it easier if anyone changes their minds due to new circumstances. But I have taken verbal notice from people I trust. Just put in the date of the last day the child is due to attend. It is polite to put a reason. It is of course nice to mention if you have valued the service too.

all the above with appropriate notice of course as per contract signed... also if reason to quit not a bad one ,iyswim ,then say you are happy to provide references for her..

In my contracts I have a clause which requires any verbal instruction/variation, to be confirmed in writing within 24 hours of the "conversation" and only once the written letter is received will the notice period begin (if that's what it is.........)

Also, please state the date of the final or last day of childminding.

So instead of saying, "I wish to terminate our childminding arrangement in one week's time" say, "I am writing to inform you that, as per contract" or something like "as per our conversation on the 8th September 2010", "I wish to terminate our childminding arrangement. The last day of the childminding service for child* will be on the 8th October 2010".

I insist on the final date to be spelled out and the note to be signed (not a computer generated signature) and dated too.

  • insert child's full name.

The OP is a childminder Wink.

I've been verbally told and just done a quick letter to them confirming their conversation with me and last day etc. Just like it all written on file :) Only ever left because moved away or circumstances changed so all been done nicely, I still wanted it in writing so i could refer back to when the last day would be.

looneytune · 09/10/2010 11:00
