£380 net for a 4 day week or £475 net for a 5 day week? She'll be looking after 2 boys, 6 months and 2, 8am to 6.30pm. I know the going rate is really £500 net per week but reducing it by even only £20 per week makes a big difference to affordability for us especially once you add tax and NI. Just don't want her to laugh at me! She has about 5 years experience, Ofsted registered, first aid cert etc but no formal qualifications.

We have recently hired a great nanny for £8/hour (+ tax, NI, 4 weeks' holiday and Christmas bonus) to look after 16 month DD and newborn twins (when they arrive). Minimum hours are 45 per week (we will pay for every hour worked). Admittedly its not sole care, but still its a lot of work! I am in Notting Hill area and had a lot of interest in the position, despite the hourly rate. After reading this thread, I feel VERY lucky to have found such a great nanny for the money we are offering (which is all we can afford). And hope this info helps.

5,6 weeks holiday, surely? Legal minimum but can include Bank Hols. It should always be written as 5.6 weeks, with an explanatory note that it's normally 4weeks and all Bank Holidays in the contract to prevent any challenge that you're trying to do the nanny out of holiday should you ever need them to work a Bank Hol (eg going on holiday).

Not sure what you are meaning there... what would be usual is that you pay an Annual Salary (so based on the minimum hours) then pay Overtime for additional hours. You could have an arrangement where by some hours are not overtime... such as 45 hours a week min, then next 10 hours are at normal rate, then anything over that is Overtime. Possibly getting complex though.

Not surprised you found you got quite a lot of interest... it's an annual salary of nearly £25k gross. Sure some nannies could earn more... but in the current market people want jobs, so will settle for whatever will pay their bills.

Oops - 4 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (written in separate sections of the contract).

We decided to keep it simple - £8 per hour, w a standard week being 45 hours. Any extra hours to be agreed, and also at £8 per hour. So weekly wage may vary, but will always be £360 in the hand, at a minimum.
