nanny manuals

A couple of people have recommended that I put together a 'nanny manual' for my nanny who is starting in 2 weeks, with routines, useful phone numbers and information on how the house runs.

Does anyone have one I could use as a template as I don't really know where to start?

Thanks!

No template, although I'm sure someone can give you one. How old are your DC as that will affect the info you put in?

Just create a word doc on your computer and put the following headings:

Routines:
sleep times
feeding times
daily activities (on Monday DD does ballet at St Michael's church Hall from 11am-12am)

Children's preferences

Phone numbers:
your work/DH's work both direct line and reception plus your mobile numbers
grandparents
doctor
dentist
friendly neighbours
DC's friends' contact details
library
playgroup
leisure centre (so she can find out when she can take them swimming for example)
an emergency electrician
an emergency plumber
the car insurers (plus policy number if she's using yours) and your breakdown service
school/nursery/preschool if necessary

How to operate:
the oven
the washing machine
the tumble dryer
the dishwasher

Where to find:
the iron
the fuse box
candles

Where to put:
children's laundry
spare bedlinen

Any days you have a cleaner, gardener etc and their contact details.

Honestly the more info is written down the better...

I do everything that Frakk does but I also put in mine:
kids favourite recipes
where to shop
passwords for milk and veg orders online
maps of the area
bus/train timetables

Any best china/family heirlooms you'd rather stayed in cupboards (as a nanny you never know what's important)
Neighbour's details, who has spare key etc

Also - where to find stopcock for mains water, where meters are (all of our nannies have let the meter reader in on occasion), and rules of the house ie. no eating in the living room, no fast food on trips out, etc.
And I put in info on free/cheap local children's groups/playgrounds/events.
