How to find a job as a nanny after having my own child

Hello there,
After being a nanny for almost 9 years and having all sorts of qualifications and vast experience and having our own child 2 and a half years ago I find it really difficult and stressful trying to find a job. Years ago it took me no mere than 2 weeks to get a placement as a sole-charge live-out nanny in SW London, but despite all my efforts in registering and applying for jobs in all possible and well known sites ?Gumtree ,Mumsnet, Nannyjob, and Netmums for over a month now I have no offers or replies. I find that very peculiar and think that I have lost my touch with the job searches. Any ideas how to get going? ??

Tanyatais, your attitude towards the time which you might spend in a job is peculiar. Of course, no-one knows what might be just around the corner or whether they will et along with a new employer but you cannot start a job (or look for one) on the basis that you might be leaving in 6 months/1 year for whatever reason. Most jobs are permanent contracts, not fixed term, and both parties should go into them expecting that they will continue for some time. If I thought that you were interviewing for a permanent position with all the caveats that you have mentioned in your previous post, I would wonder why you were so focussed on what might go wrong.

Most people, I think, are looking for someone to be there for a while (often at least until the children start school). They're looking to build a long term relationship with someone and have stability so they don't have to keep changing nanny. The concept of seeing how it goes after 6 months is just completely alien to me.

IME a trial period lasts around 6 weeks and then either you have a yearly renewal date or you just bob along until someone pulls the plug. Looking to get out after 6 months if you're not in a temp job is just plain odd IMO.

Sorry,I meant 6 weeks trial period ,not 6 months:( Yes,I agree that most people do want long term nanny and said so ,but I am looking mainly for temp job,so will wait and see!
