nanny v childminder

We are about to move area and need to start thinking about childcare. DS1 has been at day nursery since he was 1yr old, he is now 3yrs. DS2 will be 9 months old when I return to work 3 days a week at Easter.

Was thinking of trying to get DS1 into pre school in our new area, preferably, the one attached to the primary he will hopefully attend rather than putting them both into daycare.

It will be 3 full days a week from 7am until 5.30pm, and I would need whoever was looking after them to take ds1 to and from nursery and feed them both. My question is, nanny or childminder? which would be best? and what are the differences in fees and conditions?

Any advice, or experiences would be very welcome.
thanks

as you only want care for 3 days and regular hours a cm would be fine i think.. if she has spaces of course.. fees depend on where you are and could vary considerably.. nanny would be better if you have varied or antisocial hours that doesnt seem to be the case.

a nanny would have the children in your own home.. cm would have them at hers...

thanks abody for that, never considered that regular hours would be a factor. would cm just have my two or more children?

The 7am start would be an issue for some CM's, is there any flexibility there?

A nanny coming to you may be easier than taking dcs out so early, especially in the colder months.

well if it was a cm and on my way to work it could be later, more like 730am or 745am at a push

See I am a childminder, and a 7am start is fine - lots of my parents commute to the city a good two hours away......so to get work I started doing early mornings!

Some childminders have lots of children, others like me only have a few

booh - thanks for that.

depending where you are in the country, have you thought about having someone at home - its just i couldnt imagine driving 2 little ones round at 7 am in the morning.
