Hi
I know I'm a bit of a newbie on here and only pop in & out but I wanted to share my good news. I received my EYPS accreditation on Friday after doing the validation route via OU/NDNA - it was a real slog but I feel so good about it :o

Well done.

how long did it take?

I did a two year course finishing last summer (level 3 cache, now a mostly-defunct farking qual) and could be persuaded to do more study

I LOVED the learning Blush

I'm lucky as the OU accepted my teaching degree as 'relevant' - not sure how as I graduated in 1987, it was a primary (7-11yo) B.Ed, I never taught & worked in bookselling for 13 years before cm'g when ds was born. anyway, they accepted it as I had done lots of CPD stuff (only L3 though inc NVQCCLD 2008) and worked across the full 0-5 age range. Meant I could do the validation route which is 3-4 months - very intense. If you've not got a relevant degree you have to get one or do an FD then the long pathway which is 15m but includes a 'top-up' to a full BA (hons). If you do the FD with the OU you start off with course E100 which is L4 certificate in Early Years so a qualification in its on right and supposed to be very good

Oh congratulations

Bit worried now - when I looked into it you only needed 'any' degree to do the top up.....so I am busy doing a business one Hmm Hope I can still do the short path when I've finished

ChildrenAtHeart · 23/09/2010 09:18

Kook on the CWDC website - I think if you have lots of experience in EY and can prove your knowledge you may be ok, or be able to do the 6m extended short path but I'm not sure. Also, theres the new ConLib New Leaders programme being piloted where you're not allowed to have an EY degree to be eligible - but that includes doing an MA too.

I may be able to do the short pathway, I'd have to be assessed Hmm

I wish they wouldn't change their minds

ChildrenAtHeart · 23/09/2010 21:59

You have to fill the assessment thingy in whatever. Brighton & Chichester both said on basis of mine I should do the short pathway but I think thats cos they don't offer the validation route. I would have preferred the short pathway tbh as I didn't feel confident my knowledge was up to scratch. Instead I did LOADS of reading & personal study but i missed the direct learning aspect of going to Uni.
