Need a contract for nanny - any pointers?

Hi all

We're hoping to start using a nanny at the end of this month - it's someone that used to work at our nursery. I'd like to put a formal contract in place- does anyone know where I could find a comprehensive one or have one that they would be willing to forward to me? Is this something that a payroll company would provide (we're thinking of using nannytax)? i just spoke to an agency and they can provide a contract as part of a screening process but it would cost £250 plus VAT - we don't need to screen the nanny as we know her well and she has her CRB certificate.

Many thanks

Nannytax provides a very comprehensive contract that covers all bases for both nannies & parents. It may need a little tweaking depending on specific duties and the ages of your children, and if you want any different holiday entitlement or sick pay, but apart from that it's great!

Thanks Starberries - we're looking at using nannytax so can ask them about that. have also found a couple on the internet. i'm an employment lawyer so should hopefully be able to tweak it..!

NannyTax are expensive... do compare the service to other providers such as PAYEforNannies.

NannyJob: ANA Contract

You need to modify example contracts to fit with your specific situation. One thing to make sure is right is the Holiday Entitlement as that has changed over recent years.

I also suggest including more examples in the Gross Misconduct section, as then it is clearer what is considered Gross Misconduct rather than just Misconduct. As an employment lawyer, I expect you are far more aware than most about that kind of thing.

Nannies usually only get Statutory Sick Pay specified in the contract, rather than a certain number of sick days permitted or paid sick leave. That way if the employer can decide to be nice and pay a days sick at their discretion.
