Preferably an hourly rate (would be 4 days a week, 8-4ish), looking after 2 under-3s.

Sorry, I know there's been several discussions on pay for nannies, but I've been searching the archive & I keep coming up with live-in, London rates!

around £7 nett per hour i would imagine... maybe £8?? you can always phone a few local agencies to check

In Yorkshire, I think I would offer more like £6 gross. If you can't find someone willing to accept that offer, then raise it. Failing that I'd look at childminders in the area, find out what their rate is for 1 and I'd double it for the gross nanny salary. I don't pay net salaries.

I have somefriend who used a nanny for three weeks (they were in holidays here). They paid 40 to an agency as an introduction fee and £5 per hour after that. They have 3 children (5,3 and 1.5). IMO somewhat low for the work involved.

I spoke to an agency and they said that £5 an hour was their minimum, I'd offer £6 an hour. (i'm in Hull). Childminders charge between £2.50-£3 an hour here so I think doubling it for a nanny is reasonable.
