Pictures of you, photos of children (if you have permission) otherwise stock photos (such as from iStockPhoto)

Nothing on the Calendar - maybe don't have that link until you have content on the calendar.

Include postcode areas as well as town/village names. This can help Google Searches to find your website.

Try to remove the ads, if not possible see if they can be moved as far down the page as possible.

chitchat07 · 28/08/2010 15:28

A few points for you, postcode would be great, even if only the first part.

What are you trying to do exactly, find full time permanent work, part time permanent work or lots of ad hoc, occasional or short term work? It seems as though you are trying to cover all bases, and that is hard to do.

What about you? There is nothing about you. Are you a mum? Do you have a young family? Are you young, responsibility free and incredibly flexible? What is there about you that makes you so special, there must be something that is uniquely you, put it in! The different sections of this site all combine to look like an application for a job where they won't LET you put anything extra in, (which annoy me to no end!). Make yourself sound interesting and people are more likely to pay attention.

Also, some typos etc on your Experiences page (yes, I know, I'm a bit of a pedant!)crdr4

weeks holiday = week's holiday
guarenteed - guaranteed
outwith the home = ? 'outwith'?
babies routine = babies routines

The blurb under babysitting is a bit, how do I put it, repetitive? Baby sitting usually is 'ad hoc' and therefore 'as and when required' and 'on an as when required basis' -but that's just me being picky!

chitchat07 · 28/08/2010 15:29

crdr4 - a pedant with a 1 year old DC trying to mash the keyboard!!!!

The site layout looks generally smart and professional which is good.

It's a little unclear as to whether you are just advertising your own services, or are also acting as a childcare agency?

If it's the latter, it would probably be good to put in some blurb about how you vet the people that you put forward (sorry if I've missed that). Yes your CV is there, but there is no info about what sort of people you might be hiring.

Also, another pendantic layout point, but the titled look slightly odd underlined, as underlined words are usually links. May be better to use bold / size / colour to make them stand out instead, if you can.

Good luck!

Agree with others and yes, the ads CAN be removed if you pay. Can't be that expensive as I wouldn't have paid in the past otherwise Wink. I'd also highly recommend getting a proper domain name. For about £6 you can get a couple of years worth (may even be cheaper options). You then do web forwarding so could have people going to a .co.uk address and it will forward it to your webs address. Much more professional imo.

I'm just going to look at my website again to see anything else that may be missing. I must say, some photos always helps :)

looneytune · 28/08/2010 16:34

Ok, I'll just list what my different sections are although I'm just a childminder so yours will need to be different of course:

Contact Me
Home
Parents Photo Album
Vacancies
Times & Fees
Facilities & Activities
About Me
Qualifications
Experience
Meals
Photo Gallery
Before / After School Club
School Holiday Club
References
Ofsted Inspection Reports
Overnight Care
Babysitting
Early Years Foundation Stage
Whats New
Policies & Procedures
Useful Links

If you are offering different sorts of childcare, would it be more useful to parents to have these in different sections rather than all grouped together? Maybe you could have a short piece somewhere about what the different childcare options are (childminding in their home, nannying in your home etc) - actually, just looked again and I THINK this is all for childcare in the PARENTS home? Is that correct? Maybe just make that a little clearer as you may get childminders contacting you otherwise Wink

SimpleAsABC · 28/08/2010 23:59

Thanks everyone! That's given me lots to think about. I'll get on to it and probably come back time and time again until I get it right.

:)
