OMG I think I just spent £1100 on a pushchair!

:( Or Grin I'm not quite sure... possible both!!!

I just bought an ABC triple - a single pushchair, top reclining toddler seat and front static seat, as its the only 'triple' that'll fit through my door! At a bargain price of £900 including p&p and with an estimated £200 in import duty... eeek! Lets hope its fantastic and easy to use when it arrives!

I feel like I need a stiff drink (but can't as mindees are sleeping) so please reassure me that this is actually an astute business purchase and not a big waste of money! :)

You could buy a car for that! Grin

Is there such a thing as a buggy with the two seats facing each other, always thought that would be cool.

Definately an astute business purchase :-)
I love buggies though so any excuse.

deemented · 25/08/2010 14:42

You have to post us a picture or a link to it...

£1100???? Really???

claireb1974 · 25/08/2010 14:45

wow that is alot of money, I would say its worth it depending on how many hours you have 3 little ones for and how long it will take to make it pay for itself.

But this is from me who has never understood the buggie thing people have Confused

looneytune · 25/08/2010 16:56

I have the buggy 'thing' but just can't afford expensive ones. My triple is an Obaby side by side and although I love it, it obviously doesn't fit through all gates etc. I need it to but it was only something like £170 I think.

PLEASE, I MUST see a link to it as I can't believe there is a pram that costs that much! LOL

HSMM · 25/08/2010 17:37

I would never be able to spend that much, but I'm sure it was an excellent purchase.

dmo · 25/08/2010 19:34

is this it?

leeloo1 · 25/08/2010 20:15

Hi all,

I can't quite believe I spent that much either, but have 3 tinies/toddlers 4 days pw from November and need to transport them somehow! :)

dmo - its similar to that one - thats the right 'top' seat but the rest of it is
this

Oh and I've seen ABC buggies recommended loads by childminders on here in the past, so really I'm blaming all you for this purchase! Grin

leeloo1 · 25/08/2010 20:17

Oh and I should say dmo, I did just buy the one you linked to on ebay, but it won't fit through my door, so I've resold it! It was a lovely pushchair though.

KatyKatyKaty · 25/08/2010 21:03

Wow that's a brave purchase the triple in-liners don't cost as much as that, I just resold mine on ebay for £325 (Peg Perego). But it's done now and any amount of money is worth it when your stuck trying to get loadsa little ones out! Wink

leeloo1 · 25/08/2010 22:35

Thanks katykatykaty - brave is a nice way to describe it! Grin I need to use buses lots and triple in liners just don't fit - especially on the crowded ones round here... actually I'm not sure I'd be able to fit one into my hallway either. lol

I've only had 3 once pw until now so I've been using a revelo buggypod with my Phil and Teds, but its been hard work (needed screws re-tightening after 3 uses, hard to push, impossible to get through doors/on buses etc), so it'll be lovely to know I can get out and about easily. :)

nannynick · 25/08/2010 22:45

The width is 63cm, that's impressive for a triple. It shaves 7cm off the T3. Guess you needed that 7cm saving.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2010 07:26

totally insane Grin that would buy a car!!

seriously - ANYTHING that makes your life easier is worth the money

means you can get out with 3 lo's

and obviously will come off your gross income so less tax to pay next april Smile

my friend is a nanny and her boss's have brought a buggy that was over £1k - i cant rem the name of it, but is a 3 wheeler and looks like a golf cart/tripod if you took the seat off it - hidous tbh

and thats for only one child - least your is a lot of money as is a triple and smaller than average

you know what gadgets are like, the smaller they are (phones/i pods etc) the more you pay lol

Starberries · 26/08/2010 11:28

How old are the ones you're looking after? Think I probably would have plumped for a 'regular' double pram and used a sling for awhile, then when the smallest gets too big for sling, surely one of the others can use a buggyboard.

Looks lovely though if you have the money to spend am sure it's great Grin

thebody · 26/08/2010 13:41

jesus... no I would never spend that much on a buggy but if you can afford it and it helps then good luck to you..

leeloo1 · 26/08/2010 14:11

Blondeshavemorefun I feel better thinking someone spent that much on a pushchair for 1 (and that it was ugly!) this one is at least v well made - all steel frame, so you can leave the child in the top seat and take the ones out from the underneath seats without it tipping - v clever!

Also on different days I have 1 (DS), 2 or 3 children, so this becomes a single, double, triple as needed (so I can sell my Phil and Teds).

nannynick - yup those extra cm really make all the difference! Grin Our outside front door used to just be an opening, so it has a narrow door in it (about 71cm?) - I was hoping I could fit a double in by angling it, but it wasn't happening...

Starberries Um... different ages on different days:
Mon: 1 yr & 23 mths
Tues: 1 yr & 2 x 23 mths
Weds: 9mths & 2 x 23 mths
Thurs: 9mths, 15 mths & 23 mths
Fri: 9mths, 15 mths & 23 mths
My feeling was that the toddlers are too small for a buggy board and the babies are too big for a sling - I have friends who use both and they said buggy boards are good whilst kids are in the right mood (not if you're in a hurry or need to use a bus or if they're having a strop) and the ones with bigger kids (3 mths +) with slings and pushchairs are hunched over like Quasimodo!

I was hoping that the buggypod would be the right (& cheaper) answer, but its just not stable enough to be reliable... :(

thebody et al, oh go on, you know you want to. Wink

Can you tell I've spent way too much a long time thinking about buying this wretched thing! Blush

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2010 14:47

4/5 days you have 3 children so def worth it

and at those ages def too little to stand on a buggyboard and plus I find pushing a buggy with a buggyboard you get a bad back trying to push without walloping your shins on the board

will try and find out what monstrosity my friends pushs but gawd it's ugly :)

leeloo1 · 26/08/2010 15:18

oooh, I do like you blondes, please keep saying nice reassuring things like that! Grin (Oh and would be happy to see a picture of the fugly pushchair!)

repeats to self... 'I needed to buy it, I needed to buy it, I needed to buy it'!

Doesn't help that my credit card company just called to ask if there had been an unauthorised purchase on my card! Blush

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/08/2010 21:10

yy a good buy that will give you years of service by the look of it

well done

inveteratenamechanger · 26/08/2010 21:13

Looks great. Presumably you can claim some (?) back against tax?

dmo · 26/08/2010 22:37

Bargain Smile
local childminder friend has 2 triple buggys one the same as the one you got and she offered to lend me one from september Smile
just saved me ££ and storage space

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2010 23:42

leeloo1 - it is a golf- buggy trolley-- stokke Smile

and with the 2 different car seats costs over £1K

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2010 23:45

kinda looks like this

julinka · 27/08/2010 00:43

I have been thinking about buying ABC as well and I am not even registered chilminder yet.I have possible parents with kiddies of between 1-2 to start in the end of the year and my own son,so definitely too big for Carry bag/sling and too small for buggy board.ABC looks so great and they sell it in different colours as well.I just don't understand why they don't sell it in UK.I think you have done the right choice, best triple buggy on the market. You will have a piece of mind, safe, stable buggy and you can resell it very well in the future(well that's what i read from blogs and forums on the net).Very good buy

majafa · 27/08/2010 08:48

Now I know why I have after schoolers, lol

leeloo1 · 27/08/2010 21:38

Grin I'm liking these comments, thanks. Grin

Yup, definitely should last for many, many years (it better had!) and these models seem to be selling on ebay for around £600 (with 2 static seats, mine will have 1 reclining & 1 static, so clearly infinitely superior! Wink).

I've no idea why they don't sell them in the UK either - deeply annoying and theres obviously a big(ish) market for them.

Blondes mmmmm that is um, well... different! Actually DH tried to persuade me to get an Xplory when we had DS (he was working in Islington at the time and lots of the yummy mummies there had more money than sense those pushchairs! I pointed out to him the almost £1000 pricetag and he thought better of the idea. Grin Clearly in hindsight I should have said 'but you can only fit 1 child on that, for that price I'd expect you could cram 3 in there! :)
