A mindee who has been with me for 4 years is starting school in September. The intake is staggered over a month before he becomes full time (i.e. in 5-8 ratio for Ofsted). Can you give me any pointers on what to put in the contract please? I'm particulary interested in how to word the initial part time period, how to cover issues such as the child being sent home sick (especially d&v) if I'm the first contact, inset days, after school clubs etc. This is a term time only contract so there are no holidays to consider.
Thanks

Newbie here, so no help to you...but watching with interest as I had an enquiry this morning about an after schooler...this would be my first mindee ever.... so bumping for you too...

Umm you can't collect for D&V
First month you might use "hours as mutually agreed in writing" then write it all on a separate sheet with "normal contract to start from xx/xx/xx"

Would you have space to collect if they were ill - umm I guess only if you are charging for the full day

inset days are normally part of school holiday contracts (well that's how I do them)

After school clubs I don't normally do, sorry

I guess you could collect him/her if sick, but only if he/she is your only mindee and there is no risk of cross-infection of other children, or that would affect their welfare. You'd also have to think about whether other children would be adversely affected by any flexibility you offered such as additional travel/pick ups to collect from after school clubs.

I only do one school run, so that usually means no after school clubs for my mindees. I am finding I tend to lose boys to football at some point in their school career!

You won't be the schools first point of contact. They will always call parents first and then a parents designated emergency contact (usually a relative or close friend). It would be inappropriate for you to do this as you will likely have the health of other mindees to consider.

Our school doesn't introduce out of school activities until children reach yr 2. A quick call to the school can tell you if this is something that could cause an issue. My parents always check with me first though if their child wants to participate. Fortunatly I'm very close to school but they know if I couldn't accommodate a 2nd collection they would either have to make their own arrangements or have thierchild collected as usual
