How do I explain this in plain english to parents? I am thinking of including this under working with parents policy.

Any suggestions? Smile

EYFS - the way I explain it is that to evidence what we do for Ofsted, we produce what is in effect similar to a baby acheivements book with memorable milestones.

or this NCMA's

I give my new families a copy of this pack published by the DCSF. Its still available to order hard copys from the Department of Education publications site. I like the fact that it looks official yet family friendly.

Plus once children have started with me i share their learning journeys on a regular basis so they can see the EYFS in practice.

Although one idea still on my To-Do list is to mock up a learning journey using one of my empathy dolls, so parents can see what i will provide for their children before starting.

Thanks for that.

I give parents a copy of the following document:

www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary/publications/foundation_stage/eyfs/

It's easy to read and to the point. HTH

PinkCanary - That's a good link, thanks for that!

Underpaid - Your link goes to a webpage but not a specific document. I love that website though, I use it for all my observations rather than flicking through the EYFS book.
