What policies have you got?

Maybe I can get some good ideas from everyone. Started them, but not yet finished.

Would you have each policy on a seperate sheet of paper?

Look forward to hearing from you all. Grin

''SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
Our planet is under increasing pressure from human activity which has led to many natural resources being depleted.
I am committed to reduce, reuse and recycle where possible:
Scrapstore ? I use the local scrapstore to obtain some resources.
Recycling ? I reuse items such as cardboard, kitchen roll tubes, yoghurt pots and newspapers for activities; I recycle items like foil, milk cartons and metal cans.
Low energy lightbulbs are fitted throughout the setting.
The radiators upstairs have been fitted with thermostatic valves.
I talk to the children, at an appropriate level about environmental issues.
I use local suppliers for milk and eggs, to help sustain local businesses, and buy fruit and vegetables when in season.
I have a lot of wooden toys, both bought new and secondhand.''

My Inspector LOVED this

not healthy eating but healthy living:

Healthy Living Policy

A good balanced diet is vital for children to develop healthily along with fresh air and regular exercise, and I aim to ensure that all children in my care embrace a healthy lifestyle.

I ask parents to provide packed lunches with healthy options. I offer healthy snacks, like fruit, vegetables, and cheese and offer milk or water for the children to drink. Please can parents support this by not sending children with juice or squash with their packed lunch.

I encourage children to choose healthy options and to experiment by trying new foods from other cultures. Older children are encouraged to help in the preparation of snacks. I can cater for children with different food allergies and cultural or religious requirements.

I will record what your child has eaten and approximate amounts in the daily diary. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to discuss it with me.

I am happy to support you if you are weaning your baby.

I do not permit children to have fizzy drinks, unless it is a special occasion and parents have given permission.

I do not encourage children to eat sweets on a regular basis, and would ask parents not to send the child with sweets. We occasionally make cakes or biscuits as a special treat, and birthday cakes are another welcome treat. We sometimes eat party food, again this is a special treat. This means that the children learn to include treats as part of a normal, healthy diet.

I also ensure that all children are given the opportunity to exercise on a daily basis, either at toddler groups, the park, the garden, walking in the woods for example. I ask that all children are provided with suitable clothing as inclement weather will not prevent us from enjoying the outdoors. I have a limited number of waterproofs and would ask that a raincoat is supplied. In sunny weather please remember to send your child with a hat and suitable suncream.

Why not have a look on the Bromley site, this will give you lots of ideas for your policies.

Just wondering how to word my policy about children in other settings. I have not included this before. Could you help me with the wording about charging if I take children to pre school or nursery. I will be charging full fee.

Also payment policy - what should I include?

Excuse me asking so much

Thanks

Here's an idea: Whilst children attend an alternative setting e.g. Pre-school sessions, I am unable to take on further children to fill those hours. I therefore am unable to reduce my fees for this period. I am however happy to be on call for your child for emergency situations e.g. pre-school closures or inset days. When children attend school full time they are no longer counted in my under 5's ratio so I do not charge for hours they attend school.

Payment Policy includes
late payment fees
actions taken if fees not paid
possible sources of funding
and withdrawal of service
