Night Feeds Nanny

Hello,

Im three months pregnant with twins and I have 15 month old twins. When my babies are born I would like to hire a nanny for one night a week to feed the new babies to give my husband and I some much needed sleep. Is it possible to hire someone to do this and where on earth do I start looking to find a reputable nanny? We live in Watford and would appreciate any help and ideas.

If you have not already - join your local twins club and ask for recommendations. the co-ordinator of the NW London Twin club keeps a list of recommended maternity nurses / night and nannies and some will do the odd night here and there if they are free.

Good luck!

Depends who you want really. If you want someone super-experienced with twins then you're best using an agency who will screen candidates for suitability. If you're happy with someone looking to get experience with twins/don't mind useless applications advertise on netmums, gumtree, nannyjob and childcare.co.uk and look for either maternity training, courses focused on multiples or plenty of maternity/twins experience.

If you're happy to have a trainee ask MNT training if they'll advertise for you at their courses.

There's someone on here in Herts who does night nannying. Google mummyknowsbest for more info.

Good luck with everything!

Hi Berengaria

I have worked as a night nanny for newborn twins. Don't be put off by my name as I am no longer in Teesside, I'm not too far away from you.

I have a website, you can find my details there if you'd like to chat more.

Wishing all the best of luck!

Hello

yes you could get someone one night a week to feed the twins during the night whilst you get some sleep - they wouldnt be able to establish a routine with doing just one night but could literally just take over for the night.

As its just one night you could employ someone looking for their first night nanny job thats has daytime nanny experience with newborns and/or baby twins to give them experience but also is cheaper for you and you would pay around £7-£8 an hr for this (perhaps you could then afford the odd additional night)

If you wanted someone very qualified and experienced then expect to pay £12-£16 an hr depending on area, nanny quals and experience.

I have in the past done 2-3 nights a week for families and if starting on 3 nights usually cut down to 2 nights after 6wks.

2 sets of twins - think you will be the twin expert!!

Hopefully someone on here may be able to help or I can recommend the agency www.kidsmatter.uk.com as they are nationwide

Thanks for all your replies. You have given me loads of ideas and I now have some idea of where to start in my search for a nights sleep!

Hi Beren, I'm a nanny (6 years with newborns/babies now) moving into maternity nurse work, I'd be very interested to help you out for much-reduced rates. I have extensive twin experience and my 1 maternity booking was with premature twins, 24 hour care.

Please e-mail me if you'd like more info at [email protected]

Good luck!!!
