7 under 8's? variation

does anybody have a variation to allow 7 under the age of 8? I have a current vacancy and am trying to allow for 2 new siblings starting in around 10/11 months time, but it would probably give me 7 under 8 (inc my own) My certficate states 6 under 8's, just wondered if anyone had a variation for that number?

I believe variations to ages are accepted but never more than 6 children without an assistant - I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure that's the case I'm afraid.

thanks lt, i thought that may be the case

Are any children nearly 8? As they are siblings you could ask regarding variation for continuity of care

looneytune · 22/07/2010 19:37

The variation would have to say something like that anyway as wouldn't take new business (but I know this is new business but can fit one so it's different). BUT I'm fairly certain they can't budge on the overall numbers of 6 under 8. Best thing is to phone and ask if they can before spending time writing a letter.

yes thanks LT, I am only currently caring for 2 or 3 under 8's (actually under 3) at the moment but 2 mindees have newborn siblings, so am trying to fill a space as well as leave space for the siblings, problem being that siblings are 10 and 11 months away from coming to me, none will be nearly 8 either.

you may be on dodgy territory then as normally variations only for continuity of care and they may say you knew you had siblings waiting for space can you charge retainer for parents waiting for end of maternity leave?

Insurance only covers you for 6 under 8's and 6 over 8's,12 max. well ncma insurance does anyway. So be sure to check.

ok well hows about this one? as long as I keep within my 6 under 8, is it a possibility do you think that I would get a variation for continuity of care (siblings) that would mean I would have 5 in the early years age range (pre school) for a period of around 3 months? until 1 of those 5 then became a full time schooly.

Ofsted have told me on more than one occasion that they NEVER grant 5 early years, only 4.

But it's still worth asking

I doubt you would be granted 5, could you have an assistant for a few months to help you.
