I am having trouble finding the perfect childcare for my 2 dd's, it will be long term but I need full time for the 2 year old for at least 2 years and also after/before school for my 4 year old.
Cannot find a CM who can pickup at their school and the nursery I can get DD2 in charges obscene amounts for after school (£24. I know)

Would a live out nanny be practical? How does it work?
I have no room in the house for anyone to live in so that is a no goer!

Haven't got one... but I am one

Live-Out nannies come to your home on a daily basis... working whatever hours are contracted. Those could vary depending on the day of the week, or could be the same each day.

Live-Out nannies must be paid a minimum of National Minimum Wage... though in reality nannies will want quite a bit more than that in terms of salary. Look at local nanny jobs being offered to get some kind of idea of salaries - such as on sites like www.nannyjob.co.uk

In my area (West Surrey, outside London) a live-out nanny could £8 to £11 gross per hour... so £80+ per day.

For some example costs involved in employing a nanny click that link... as it's important to understand that the cost involved is not just the nannies salary but also other things, such as activities, food, travel.

Where abouts are you located? If you are in/around London, I would def consider it! You can email me on nanny . beth @ hotmail . com

You would be looking to pay anywhere in the region of £6-£11 an hr gross depending on nannies experience and qualifications and whether you would consider a nanny with own child.

You could search privately on sites such as www.netmums.co.uk, www.childcare.co.uk and www.gumtree.com

or use agencies www.kidsmatteruk.com are nationwide, sorry dont know any in south wales.

www.nannyjob.co.uk has a job section, a nanny cv section and also an agency search option so worth a look.

remember to ensure nanny has a CRB check and at least 2 checkable references (can you guarantee its not a friend giving them a reference - just a scenario I have heard of!)

Do you want them to have first aid quals, be a driver?

You may be able to find a nanny looking for first nanny job who has done a couple of years in a nursery and willing to work for £6 gross an hr as would a slightly more experienced nanny with own child.

Why not pop a job advert saying what you require in a nanny and at the end state willing to consider applications from those looking for first nanny job and/or nanny with own child.

state you are looking at paying £6 gross an hr and would like a min of 18mths-2yrs childcare experience (this could be nursery work, mothers help, extensive babysitting- although would want lots and lots if only experience) you may find some really fab applicants looking for someone to give them a chance.

Hi

I have one for 2.5 days per week. Went through nanny agency and day rate is £112 gross. She has over 20 yrs experience plus is ofsted registered (not all are)and renewed crb check as well as first aid qualified. She also does his cooking / washing / ironing. I would prefer nursery but the new area we moved to has an 18 month waiting list. Good luck
