hi. has anyone ever used a nanny cam. if so how did you set it up and did you find it to be useful?

I've worked (as a nanny) with a nanny cam (in US I have to say - but would agree to it anywhere). It was very strange at first, but had discussed with my employers that I am human and have bad (hormonal) days where i may be less tolerant/more snappy than usual (though tbf i bring that up at all interviews anyhow). My first 'oh for goodness sake will you stop hitting your sister' moment was a bit worrying but after that we were all fine.

HOWEVER the nanny cam was put in so the parents could view live what the children were doing, not to check up on me.
If you want to check up on your nanny the time has come to end it. If you just want to see your child during the day it may be worth sounding out your current nanny first. Many (including myself) would wonder if you suspected some form of abuse or fraudulent behaviour rather than something less sinsister.

Roses I am a teacher and would be fine with that. I have nothing to hide. I tell parents hey can (descreetly) come watch absolutely anytime as long as theydont let the children see them so they aren't distracted.

If someone were watching to check up on me I'd be anxious and feel horrible that they didn't trust me but to see their kids and what I'm teaching them.... Absolutely fine by me!

In a couple of positions I would have welcomed a nanny cam so my employers could see how hard I worked.

True - and for having them in school classrooms as suggested.... Perfect way to show parents how their dc acts/performs/achieves/contributes....etc.sometimes at conference time, there's that one parent and you think, if only they could SEE little Billy in the classroom...

I don't see why trust should not go both ways: you trust your nanny, and she trusts your good intentions and does not prohibit you from sneaking on your baby playing during the day over the internet while you are in the office... isn't it natural to miss you little one and to check at him from time to time while outside? why does it mean not trusting your nanny??? of course, cameras should not be hidden
