I work Mon, Tue, Thurs, and fri if needed but i try and keep Wed as my day off. If i can be of any help then please do get in touch and we can arrange a visit at my house where you can meet myself and my family. My email address is [email protected]
I have a spacious home with a huge garden with lots to do where children can have fun and explore. []

Do a lot of cms take one weekday off? I wouldn't even be able to consider this because I work 5 days per week and wouldn't be able to do 2 separate childcare settings (no family - all overseas). Just a thought that maybe that's meaning less inquiries for you?

Maybe I have no clue what I'm talking about and most people use a cm part time or only 4 days per week, though!

Hi there,
All childminders are different. I am lucky my husband works full time so i dont have to. I choose to have one day off so its just me and my 2year old daughter then i can spend the day with just her and get boring things done like food shopping and bills. I know some childminders work full time so have to do these things while they are working but i dont think its profesional to do it while your looking after other children. I can then give them my 100% attention while they are in my care and have lots of fun.

That sounds ideal from your end.
Best of luck!

Oh I'd LOVE a day off each week for things like that! I don't do ANY of my own stuff during my 7.30-6, Mon-Fri week for the very reason you mentioned but it does make weekends that much more stressful (although thank god for online shopping!! lol). ONE DAY I will get a day off a week, I'm determined!! lol

Anyway......good luck with filling your space(s)

I'd be so sad if my cm went to 4 days bc it would mean we would have to stop going to her
I would like a 4 day work week, too actually not possible with teaching, but maybe if we all did 4 days on 3 off, the world would be happier

looneytune · 16/07/2010 21:38

I'd only ever do it if my days got reduced anyway due to part timers coming in once others have moved on (so I'm talking years away lol).

But yes, a 3 day weekend for all sounds fair

StarExpat · 16/07/2010 21:43

Glad we're in agreement. Do you think the new gov't would likely support this concept?

looneytune · 16/07/2010 21:55

I wish! lol

Not every parent works full time and to be honest less than a handfull have ever conatcted me for full-time care. At the moment i have been lucky and only had parents that need me part time. But my day off in the week is priceless. It is quality time with my daughter i childmind to fit around my family not the otherway round. I used to work in a nursery before i childminded and always have had a wed off. I personally couldnt be a childminder 7-7 everyday if you are one it is very demanding and children can be very draining and we dont get enough credit for it. So well done to all your full-timers you must be knackered by the time the weekend comes.
