Increasing fees

Sorry for the mess i made of this earlier anyone who happened to see it!!!

I would like to increase my fees from September. Have minded theis family for 3 years with no increases.
I don't charge extra for 'unsocial hours' (before 8am and after 6pm) and i don't charge for maeals or snacks.

I charge £3.50 atm. Not sure how to justify the increase or how much to increase it by.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

i think any increase would be perfectly justifiable simply because it is the first in 3 years!

Can you ask any other local childminders what they charge? Or put on here where you are roughly and someone local can tell you?

Perfectly fine. I personally 'review' my fees every October and let them know Oct/Nov what (if any) increase I'm making and this change starts from the following February so it gives them plenty of notice.

Agree, would check and see what other cms are charging in your area. I review mine at the end of the summer term, with new rates starting at the beginning of the new school year. Like LT says, that gives them plenty of notice.

I felt soooo bad the first time I increased my fees but parents are always fine about it. Let's face it, most of them get an annaul payrise themselves - and if they are claiming tax credits then they'll usually be able to increase what they receive as a result .

Thank you so much all of you!!! I am in Scotland near Edinburgh.

I just don't want to lose the wee one i suppose. No tax credits as they are pretty well off.

My DH thinks a 15p an hour increase would be enough but i thought to cover the unsocial hours/all meals etc 25p sounds better to me. Or am i being greedy? Oh the indecision lol!!!!

My last increase was from £4ph to £4.30 so I think 25p ph should be fine The cost of food etc. has certainly gone up a lot in the last 3 years!
