If you can write your daily diary in the form of a series of observations and show how it links to the EYFS then you are alright for all the EYFS children. You do however have to show next steps. (according to my latest inspector anyway ......)

until rumours are followed up with firm official guidance you really ought to carry with eyfs from birth

HSMM is right, one way of recrding obs is in the daily diary

My problem with this is what happens when the diary is full and you create the next one - I send mine to parents to keep, if you do that then all that info is lost to you

thank you so would you do a learning journey type sheet that has obs how it links and next steps? also is that then counted as planning?

I do my obs in my daily diarys, and then have a macthing book for next steps and planning, I also agree with my parents at the beginning that the diarys remain my property for ofsted to inspect. would be nice not to have to do them though eh

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/07/2010 19:03

yes if you put next steps on your obs sheet AND DO THEM (I say this because a few minders round my way have NOT been doing the next steps and been roundly carpeted by Ofsted) then that is indeed planning

mummyquilliam · 12/07/2010 19:04

its confusing as i used to be a nursery nurse but everything has changed since i worked in a nursery and now im hearing its changing again. i dont currently have any mindees just want to figure out best way of doing it

mummyquilliam · 12/07/2010 19:05

so if i carry on with the next steps and do an ob on next steps i would be covered?

awwwwww

All my OBS go into the Learning Journals I use, and I put the 'next steps' planning in there too.

I would be very wary about stopping obs for 0-3 - I think that is highly unlikely to change.

mummyquilliam · 12/07/2010 21:56

i thought the same but wanted reassurance on it

My diary notes are done in a duplicate book, so the parents have a copy and I get to keep mine

agalchchangedhername · 13/07/2010 17:46

I am planning to put my fees up from September. I currently charge £3.50 per hour from 7am till 7pm. So how do i......

  1. Justify the increase?
  2. How much of an increase? Up to £3.75?

I know other minders who charge more for unsocial hours (before 8am and after 6pm) but i don't. I also don't charge for meals and snacks etc.
I have been minding for this family for 3 years and have never put my fees up and so feel really nervous wanting to do it.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!
