My midwfife is giving me a sweep on tuesday but said she can only do it at 39 weeks if the baby's head is right down. Does anyone know what that means? How far does the baby down does the baby have to be? Does it mean the baby needs to have dropped? Also, as it my second baby i've heard your second baby doesnt drop until you go into labour so im a bit confused. Im trying to avoid induction again! I dont think the baby has dropped as i can feel him in my ribs but at the same time i can feel very low movements aswell so im not sure. Would appreciate your thoughts/knowledge/experience! Thanks

Hi! I think that the ability to give you a sweep is dependent on your cervix. I had an internal examination at 40 weeks and was told my the consultant that I was not able to get a sweep because I was not favourable - I think that "favourable" is when your cervix has softened and is preparing for labour. I ended up getting induced 3 days later.
