Will a VBAC make rectocele (prolapsed rectum) worse?

I am trying to decide whether to go for a VBAC or opt for a caesarian. Seeing the consultant again in 2 weeks. Saw doctor today to discuss the rectocele and she seemed to think that the pregnancy itself might make the rectocele worse but that a vaginal delivery might make no difference.
I am sure it must have some impact though, especially as I am likely to have another big baby?
Has anyone expereicned this?
She also suggested i write a big list of the pros and cons of VBAC / CS.
They would both be very long lists - that's the problem!
Thank you

Hello

I also have a rectocele (and a lesser bladder prolapse) since the forceps birth of my son 2 years ago. I wanted to reply to you as I also wanted to know the answer to this question for ages and didn't see much on it here. I have now seen about three different consultants and they have finally decided that I may as well have a "natural" birth as they think that it won't do any more damage (above pregnancy) and I will ultimately need to have surgery to repair the rectocele at some point. It's certainly all got much worse since being pregnant. They did say that if I had had any bowel incontinence then they would have definitely said a c-section (a couple of the other more junior doctors also suggested a section in any event). They have also scheduled me in for lots of tests and physio three months after the birth already. I also can't believe the pushing won't make it much worse but they seem pretty confident it would all hold...

I would be very interested to know what advice you get.
