Daft question about C section, can you tell me......

...if you had any wind? I had a section with my last baby and I was in agony for about 3 days later. My ward was full of other mothers and I was far to embarrassed to fart so held it in thinking it must be something to do with me.

Did you get it? Is there a reason I was so bad, not normally too windy other than that.

Have another section coming up and was wondering about it.

oh, and if you do happen to get it, lie on your back with your right arm above your head and your left arm down by your side. Do this for about 10/15 minutes and you should get some relief! Troubles in early pregnancy

With my first cs I didn't get wind. With my second cs I felt uncomfortably bloated and gassy, though it never really made me fart.

The nurse brought me a lovely "cocktail" of warm peppermint water and antacid.

IIRC, when I had my first CS in NY I wasn't allowed solid food (could eat eg soup, jelly and icecream - a bit like having had tonsils removed rather than baby ) until something windy had happened, though I forget what now - either passing wind, or passing something a bit more substantial. They don't do that here, do they?

Just found:

That's from here . Might be worth trying to avoid really solid food, dq - but anyway, if you do need to fart, try to overcome your natural embarrassment and let rip! (Lying on your front if you can will help, gravity or something seems to help the gas move to the exit )

JanH ... PMSL ... When I had DD (18 mths ago here in NZ) I was not allowed any food until I had 'passed wind' ... In the end I hadn't eaten for over 24 hours as the last meal I had was the night before my section and DD was born late afternoon ...
Eventually I lied and told the m/w that I had passed wind when she was out of the room so I got some food. Strangely, as soon as I had eaten the problem sorted itself out IYKWIM?

I'm afraid I was demanding food on the operating table

Finally persuaded DH to get me a pizza 4 hours later. I thought I was going to die of hunger.

Hi, I had a lot of wind and felt bloated. It lasted few days, didnt eat much in hospital as menu choice was poor e.g cheese and crackers for breakfast!?
I drank prune juice and peppermint drinks. It does pass though.
