What happens when you go into early labour? (ie before 37 weeks)

My friends went into labour this week, she's 32 weeks pregnant. They've managed to stop it for now and given her steroids just in case for LO's lungs.

Well it's prompted me wondering about what happens if you go into early labour, what do they generally do with you at the hospital?

They booked me a bed in scbu, gave me steroids, and put me on the ward, where I happened to meet one of my now best mates! My waters went at 32 + 3, then went into labour at 32+6.
It was great (obv because baby was fine, didnt need anything just a stay in scbu for obs/establish feeding etc)
Try not to worry too much!

DD was born at 36 weeks- nothing 'different was done'.
DS was born at 34+4. They gave me steroids and he was in special care for a day but other than that no different either.

DD2 born at 35 weeks. No SCBU time, discharged after 2 nights (but were fine to go home after one). Hospital didn't do anything 'different' other than pushing formula like there was no tomorrow (told them, not in so many words, where to shove it).
