I need advice re a retained placenta (stuck to womb lining) please.

My placenta with DD got stuck to the womb lining and had to be manually removed.

I have been told by consultant (expecting number 2), that there is a increased risk of it happening again. I discussed the natural option (no jab), and was told as it was stuck to lining and not trapped by cervix, it is unlikely to make a difference.

Has anyone ever had a retained placenta stuck to womb lining, and then had natural for next one and placenta come away okay?

I had retained placenta with DS1 and was also told it was more likely with no.2 (and therefore I was unable to have the homebirth I really wanted). However I had (induced) normal birth for DD and the placenta came away fine! No jab as no time. I think the midwife thought we were a bit odd to celebrate the arrival of the placenta quite so heartily! I spoke to a couple of midwives since and they do not really hold with the increased risk theory.
Hope that all helps and good luck with it all.

I am hoping it was stuck to some scarring as I have had endometreosis in the past, if it was then I might get away with it as the placenta this time is anterior and last time was posterior so it is in a different part of the womb. Or maybe I am clutching at straws there.

Glad your 2nd one went to plan, I want a homebirth but not allowed one either.
I think I will be the same I will celebrate placenta arrival if natural.

Thank you for the good luck wishes.

SIL had retained placenta the first time complete with snapped cord and manual removal. All was fine the 2nd time, both babies were induced - the first one at 39 weeks (pre-eclampsia) the next one at 40+10
