People who used natal hypnotherapy or similar, when did you start listening to the CDs?

Just wondering, should I get into the habit of listening to how to relax during birth CDs early, like in the 2nd trimester, or leave it til much later i.e a few weeks before birth? (When I was giving up smoking using a CD the hypntherapist recommended listening every night for at least a month and preferably 6 weeks. I didn't have time to do it every night so used it twice a week or so for 3 months)

Also I see the NCT sells different CDs for home births, birth centres etc etc - I don't know yet where I'll have DC1. Surely it's not that important anyway, it's all about breathing techniques and pain management, and whether I am at home or in a birth centre is a bit beside the point? I don't want to have to buy 2 different CDs...

Recommend the birth centre/hospital one (is it Natal Hypnotherapy?) unless the homebirth one has something specific in it for keeping calm during an unexpected transter to hospital. As you say, much of a muchness, but something to help with transfer to hospital could be very helpful.

Definitely recommend you listen every day for the whole of 3rd trimester at least - gives the best chance of it sinking in. And don't worry if you seem to fall asleep every time - apparently that's a good thing and it will still be all going in. Don't leave it too late anyhow.

if you buy a cd it should say in the instructions when you can safely start listening to it (mine recommended starting from 35 weeks). different CD's will vary so bear in mind when choosing.

I listened to mine from sometime in the 2nd trimester, then every day for the last couple of months. I listened to it at night and fell asleep almost every time. It really worked and I had a lovely birth.
Mine (Marie Mongan) didn't specify whether homebirth or hospital.
