36 weeks 5 days - breech baby, anterior placenta - any hope?

hi,

I've been for a scan today and baby is breech. I have an anterior placenta (which apparently is enormous) and am rhesus negative, both of which I have read can be an issue. Is there anyone out there who can talk me through what this might mean. Does anyone have any ideas?

Am going to try pulsatilla and moxibustion (sp?)(is this safe with anterior placenta?) and will be 'tilting' like mad.

If anyone can give me any info or direct me to a something good to read. I have read Ina May Gaskin and Active Birth on breech but am meeting consultant on Thursday to discuss options so would like to be as clued up as possible.

Thanks in advance.

www.spinningbabies.com Also handstands in the pool, hypnosis can be good too. It may be that the placenta is positioned in a way that tprevents the baby turning but it may not so try everything you can.

Is this your first baby? How many weeks are you? If not how were the other births - might be easier to argue for active breech birth if you have previously given birth vaginally.

I think anterior placenta only an issue for CS if its low (ie where they'd do the incision). RH- means that if they try ECV then they need to give you anti-d but I suspect they will not want to do ECV with anterior placenta.

Hypnosis and positions from spinning babies can help.

Thanks everyone.

Someone from another forum is kindly the AIMS book on breech birth which I'm hoping I can speed read in advance of Thursday's meeting. I'm hoping for an active breech birth if the baby doesn't turn on its own. I read the Mary Cronk last night and found it really reassuring and a real boost to my confidence.

This is my second baby. I was hoping for something along the lines of the lovely home water birth I had with my first but am happy to compromise on location (I live in a very rural location about 40 mins from a hospital). My last birth was what they call 'uneventful' and I would call wonderful and easy - 2nd stage was only 25 minutes, which I am hoping will help my case for an active breech birth should the baby not turn.

I'm feeling a lot more calm than I was last night. Although I'm officially term this week, my EDD isn't for another 3 weeks during which I will do everything I can to encourage my baby to turn, although I am reticent to try ECV. I can't explain why but I don't feel comfortable with it for me, and I trust my instincts.

Thanks again for responding.
