Have to be at hospital first thing and feeling very apprehensive.
Can't sleep despite the need for an early night.
Worried

irrational really as I had a CS with DD, not an elective but not quite emergency either, so do know what to expect. Somehow this is not really helping!

anyone around who will say nice reasssuring to me?

hope your ok!! ive never had a cs but just wanted to wish you luck. hope all goes well and you will soon be holding your beautiful baby . a magical moment you can never replace

Ach, tis only natural to be nervous and apprehensive, but it will be OK

I had a similar first time experience and opted for ELCS next time. I think it was the knowing what to expect that made it worse though! I don't think I slept a wink the night before, and annoyingly enough was just settling down for a wee nap when they came to get me to go to theatre the whole thing was sooo much more calm and serene though and not having gone through X hours of hideous, ending in EMCS, labour before meeting DD meant that I was much more with it than I had been when meeting DS1 for the first time.

Have you got a birth plan? taking in some music and my own blanket for baby to be wrapped in (which I slept with the night before to get it all smelling of me) helped me focus on it being a special birth rather than just a routine operation.

IT'll be fine, and you will be holding your baby very very soon

Aw you will be fine! I had 2 emergency sections, one was a crash under GA. I lost massive amounts of blood (probably as it was rushed and was a twin pg) with my 2nd and was terrified about my ECS but it was fabulous!!! Electives are so different. I had no problems at all and was in great hands, the birth was magical, hearing that first cry... just try relax as much as you can and enjoy those special first moments, you will be fine. Good luck.

DAISY, your post almost made me cry, have had the odd weep already this evening when dropping DD off at her sleepover. It reminded me of the 'why' and this little bundle we are soon to meet. DH has put the music together, it's a surprise.... goodness only knows what we'll be listening to! But think I will go and unpack the swaddling blanket that is packed in the '1st day bag' and snuggle up to it.
