I am worried about them all being taken out. Would it be worth going a&e so i could have gas and air if its painful? (Worried)

How painful will it be?

I have had 2 cs, both with staples (you get a very neat scar from staples)
Removing them really didn't hurt - the midwife did it at home with something looking alarmingly like office stationary. But whilst it was slightly odd there was really no pain - it is just the superficial layers anyway - no tugging or anything.
You'll be fine.

That's why they did staples as last cs scar was 2 inches wide so they have cut that all out. Quite a tummy tuck!

You sure it wont hurt?

at worst it will be like a little sharp pinch or pin prick each time

take some paracetomol before maybe and try to relax

its really just skin - honestly i am super squeamish and it was no biggie, truly

Shouldn't hurt at all, apart from some pinching & discomfort. The mw will take them out at home for you. Please don't go to a&e. They will admit you to the psych ward

lol ok

Having half of them out Thursday

Thanks girls, put my mind at rest

Mine didn't hurt at all. Hardly noticed. Maybe one made me wince, but that was it. It just felt like a little pulling.

Good Luck !

As a nurse who hass removed THOUSANDS of staples I can assure you that 99.9pc of people feel a little pulling, the odd nipping sensation etc,but certainly no "pain" as such. The odd staple can get a little twisted, which can be a little sore to come out.If you are very nervous, tell the nurse, close your eyes, deep breaths in and out,and "find your happy place".Only takes a minute or two to take out 32 clips.

I shall be brave! I shall report back after its done

Mine didn't hurt. Maybe a little tickly/scratchy but not painful. The midwife did the them as soon as she came round and saved the chatting/ weighing until after because I was worried about it but it really was fine. From what I understand if it sufficiently healed it shouldn't be painful.

Good luck and I hope you have a tidy scar- dd is 9 months and mine is invisible in parts!

I actually found the feeling quite pleasant!! Like scratching an awkward itch!

Divster · 13/05/2010 20:22

I was filled with dread as she sat there reading the instructions on the scissors! Asked her if they were different to the ones she normally used, she replied she had only done it twice before!

Afraid to say, I did have some gas and air for the one left till last, as it was imbedded
