Could anyone spare a minute to complete my short questionnaire about birthing pools?

If you have had experience of using a birthing pool in hospital, or would have liked to use a birthing pool in hospital, please could you fill in my questionnaire (just 8 short questions)?

If you want to take part just click on the link below, fill in the questionnaire and click done.

www.surveymonkey.com/s/RDJLZFL

The questionnaire will be used as research evidence for my Access course at college and will only be seen by myself and my tutor. It will be anonymous, and you don?t have to answer all the questions if you don?t want to.

Thank you so much if you are able to participate ? the information you provide will be really useful in helping me to determine whether or not birthing pools are used to their maximum potential in hospitals.

Oh no - that was the end of the survey.
Not meaning to be rude but I wouldn't have said it was a very complete questionnaire freesiajean.
By that I mean that I answered to yes I have used BP for labouring and when it said would you recommend using one to another mum, I answered yes. Then it was finished. By looking at my survey, you think I had a positive experience of BP use in a hospitla when in fact it was terrible! How would this help you work out the effectiveness of BP use in hospitals? I really don't think it will be a very true survey going by the way the questions are structured. Sorry to sound harsh but you will think that I had a good time in the BP and would recommend it when in fact, I hit my chin on the pool edge as there was no soft cushioning anywhere and that I had a positive experience and that's why I would recommend it. In fact, the reason I would recommend it would be because I know that not all birthing pools would be the same crap design as the one in my hospital and that the dragon of the mw who refused to top it up to keep it warm, doesn't work at other hospitals!
Plus there was only one pool so if someone's in it, tough. And nobody would help me get in and out or help me get dried during contractions.

I agree, was slightly taken aback...

I doubt you got my views from my survey either.

I wasn't able to use the pool at my first birth as it was out of action

I had a fabulous 2nd birth in a pool, without any other pain relief, I delivered him myself in a slow and calm was in the pool. I smile when I think about his birth because it was perfect in every way.

I moved hospital at 32 weeks with my third child to one with lots of pools (5 room in MLU 4 of these have pools). However despite me getting to hospital v early I didn't end up using the pool as I asked to use it and midwife did not believe I was in established labour (irregular contractions and me far too calm!) she was worried it would slow me down and then suddenly waters went and it too late to fill it, especially as he was born very very quickly. But I did deliver holding onto pool on the outside of it!

Thank you so much for completing the questionnaire, and for all the additional info - it will really help.

My research question is actually "are birthing pools used to their maximum potential in hospitals, and if not, why not?". There is one questionnaire aimed at midwives, and this one is aimed at service users, to see if opinions differ. Whilst your birth experiences will definitely give me better background info, the main aim was to ascertain whether women's wishes to use a birthing pool had been granted. I also wanted to keep it short, because I know how limited time is with a newborn (I've got 4 children)!! But thank you again for taking the time to reply in such depth.
