second labour/birth experiences

I am approaching 29 weeks with my second baby. YEEEAAAAHH! Had an awful experience with daughter, induced at 42 weeks, 17 hour labour then ventouse. Was wondering if the second birth/labour is easier?
Did you go into labour naturally?
Were you early?
Was it quicker?
Did you need less intervention?
Was it more or less painful?

LAstly, was your second baby bigger or smaller? My daughter was 9lbs and im only small! eek!
Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks

1st labour 30 hours, epidural and ventouse.

2nd labour 6 hrs, pethidine.

Went into labour 36+5 and 37 weeks, so no induction either time.
More painful 2nd time (but had epi first time).

Much better second time - things progressed much quicker and far less intervention.

Good luck!

Similar birth, similar weight, roughly half the time of the first.
Hope all goes well.

First time DD1 was sunny side up and I had to have an epidural. After that it was plain sailing, a couple of stitches but OK.
Second time my second stage of labour was only 14 minutes long (full dilation/pushing DD2 out) and I had second degree tearing which three years on is still not right.

earlier
easier
shorter
less medication
faster recovery
baby was bigger though

My first labout was literally exactly the same as yours, long, syntocin, waters broken, drugs, hours of contractions/hours of pushing, episiotomy, ventouse.

Second time around, still had to be induced at 42 weeks (my womb must be comfy) but whole process a LOT shorter. Contractions started at 9pm. By half 11 was ready to push and by 11.50, DD arrived. She was a nearly a pound lighter than DS, maybe that it why it was so much easier. Oh and no drugs just gas and air.

Good luck!

Labour no 1; over several days, epidural, ds arrived on due date.

Labour no 2; 1hr 20, no pain relief, 4 days late.

DC2 was more painful because it was so quick but you can deal with anything if it only last an hour and a half.

Good luck.

first labour 13 hrs, after ten days over-due, second labour 36 painful hours after eight days over-due (but actual birth much quicker and easier)

and dd was 9.14 pounds, whereas ds had been 7.5 pounds so second baby was heavier.

First: 41 weeks, no intervention, gas and air, 7ish hours, 7lb baby. Textbook stuff but NOT a pleasant experience; was terrified out of my wits.

Second: 41 weeks, water birth at home, no drugs, 5 hours, nearly 9lbs. Absolutely wonderful experience. Totally manageable pain with the exception of the last half hour which was a bit hideous. All in all though, great. Half an hour afterwards I wanted to do it all again.

Hope you have a good experience with this one. Almost all the anecdotes I hear suggest that second labours are generally shorter and easier.

First baby 42+2 weeks, 8lb 4oz, no intervention, went into labour naturally. Second baby 41 weeks, 9lb 4oz, shorter labour. 3rd baby, 40+4, 9lb 10oz! no intervention and no stitches with any of them amazingly! Don't worry about the size, there's evidence that bigger babies are easier to deliver, particularly after a first birth. Hope all goes well Cat.
