I read this on tube home and it made me very nervous and angry! Am grateful that I am booked into Wittington (same as you) as they do seem to have a different approach and are very keen on an active natural birth.

Going for tour of the birthing suite this weekend and still thinking about home birth (MW very supportive of this!)

Hope all going well with you and your new LO

Yes, made me very angry too, but honestly was so impressed by approach at Whittington birth centre - and as I have said before they told me that most of the transfers out are women begging for epidurals! They were respectful of my birth plan including my decision not to have any VEs, and I liked that I had chance at 36 weeks to discuss birth plan with them in calm way (rather than in labour).

Also appreciated little things, like tehm showing me how to dim lights to make room more comfortable in labour. And as I have said before the aftercare was totally wonderful, we stayed in the room for 14 hours until we were ready to go home.

All going well with LO, he's lovely !

That's really reassuring thank you. Glad all going well.

I had a very good experience with Homerton staff - I eventually opted for a homebirth, did not find any obstacles and was looked after by 6 wonderful and helpful midwives in turn.
Was I lucky? Maybe but you have to believe until the end that everything will work just fine AS YOU PLANNED which in turn gives you lot of strength and definitely facilitate the atmosphere around you your family and caretakers

Rossella - I agree but I think also you have to try to mitigate against things not going to plan but choosing a setting that works for you where you trust that they will follow your birth plan.
