I am 39+2 and am seeing my midwife on weds.
She is notoriously difficult to get (any) answers from, even to a direct question.
What I want to know is how to go about asking for induction if I go overdue by more than a few days.
This has been my major concern for the last few weeks, as I have increasing hip pain, and cervical pain when standing/sitting/walking...
I also have fear of baby being stillborn due to being overdue. (family history)

How do i phrase my questions/requests, so that I am taken seriously?
If she will not listen, where do I go next?
Thanks.

you will be offered induction, but if you are not getting answers or reassurance, you can call teh supervisor of midwives or one of the other community MWs for help

you need to say,'I am very worried about going overdue to to family history of stillbirth, please can we talk about induction of labour?'

be direct. press her for answers.

it is more than likely at this next appt you will be given an appt for a stretch and sweep and induction date, so it is likely it will be discussed anyway, but don't be afraid to be direct

Maybe a new mw would be better? TBH, I think you should not be having to worry about how to phrase your questions to someone who is there to help you.

Early induction (i.e, induction prior to the standard 10-14 days past EDD, depending on the hospital's protocol) is not a midwife decision. She will need to refer you to a consultant to get this signed off. So you don't need to convince HER actually, you just need to get yourself referred to the consultant.

Yes I would get a consultant, they make things happen, one tried offering to induce me over nothing so they'll probably be eager to help.

I would go to the antinatal clinic and tell them the pain youre in, theyll check you and baby over and get you in to see a consultant, bypass the midwife.

If you don't trust your m/w to refer you you can usually phone ob/gyn appts at the hospital direct and arrange your own appt with a cons.

This is what I did when my m/w and GP were fobbing me off.
