maternity services in Lincolnshire

Hello all, I have done a search for this but not found a lot. I might end up giving birth in Lincolnshire. It looks like the nearest maternity places to me are Boston Pilgrim, Lincoln and Grantham Midwife led unit. Has anyone used any of these facilities or are planning to? I was wondering what they are like, services on offer, one to one care, after care, that kind of thing (I generally don't have a clue as this is my first). I would be really grateful for any info anyone can offer for the Lincs area. Many thanks .

The NHS main website is actually quite a good start. Take a look here

You can also look at the Care Quality Commission's website for reports on these maternity units. Those reports include feedback from mothers about their experiences.

Hope this helps

Additionally, all three hospitals are part of the same organisation (United Lincoln Hospitals Trust), so they should share quite a lot in common. It may be worth your while calling the Lincs Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service on 0845 602 4384 and asking them to tell you more about each service.

Hiya

I had both my dd's at Pilgrim

Labour ward fine, with dd1 I had a room which even though it was small had a private toilet and TV

With dd2 I was aiming for a waterbirth but my labour slowed to a virtual stop so had to have it augmented. MW's very keen to support waterbirth, they all got rather excited when the pool came out.

The mw's were very pro choice, supportive, one to one care at all times, left us alone after the birth to bond for a while

The maternity ward is a bit bog standard I suppose, the food is notoriously crap but after dd2 I was discharged asap so I wasn't bothered about that.

All in all I would rate both birth experiences as positive

Oh and as a negative I would say that the post natal support, particularly with breastfeeding, I had after dd1 was crap - much much better after dd2 - born nearly 7 months ago after a 5 year gap.
