hi there !
just wonder'd i had DS3 ( DC4 ) an retained part of my placenta for a week, an was rushed in with pph an the placenta was removed. i was on iv for 3 days after .
DD2 (DC5) i had her in less then a hour an had a big bleed straight after , i had to have a hormone drip put up to close my uterus.
so i was wondering will somthing like that happen again ?? has any one had problems after birth then had a "normal" birth again?
i'm 27 weeks an starting to get quite nervous about the hole birth! HELP!

Don't know the answer but bumping for you. I had a PPH after DD2 (8 weeks) and would be interested to know what the chances are of it happening again. Hope someone comes along with some info!

I've had three children and bleed more and more after each birth.

I think a pph is a risk factor for future pphs. Discuss it with yoour midwife/consultant and about how you want the third stage managed.

i had pph with both of mine as well, but mine was really bad to the point i have been adviced to have nomore babys, my second labour was consultant led because of the 1st time, and he told me you have 25% more chance of it happening again, so its not definate, guess i was just unlucky, try not to worry, they will be a lot more vigilant in looking for it

I had PPH after DC2 but not after DC3 or DC4. I think the risk is meant to be higher after subsequent births but i dont think you should worry that it will definately happen again.
Fingers crossed for you

According to my midwife (I'm expecting my 4th), pph becomes more likely with subsequent births as the uterine tissue is more stretched and less resilient, so it doesn't suck back into place clamping down on blood vessels. This is why a lot of health trusts aren't keen on home births when you've had 4+ babies.

But your medical team will be aware of this, and ready for it so it won't take them by surprise. Good luck!
