Curious to know of others' experiences here. Ds was born at 35 weeks and as approaching that date wondering if others carried their 2nd to full-term or not when on was early. Thanks!

DS 1 was born at 35 weeks. DS2 arrived at 40 + 2.

Went on to have DS3 at 37 weeks (spontaneous labour) and DS4 at 39 weeks (elective CS).

DS1 was born at exactly 33 weeks. Contractions started while I was having sex. The doctors have never found any health reason why he was born early so I can only assume it was the sex that brought on the labour.

Now I am 38 weeks pregnant and still waiting. I was terrified that this baby would come early too, especially since I started having quite strong braxton hicks at about 31 weeks. Fortunately she has stayed put and now I am starting to worry that I might even end up being induced! The doctors did all advise me against sex and I have stuck to this rigidly since about 26 weeks.

Did the doctors ever give you any indication as to why your previous baby was early?

ds1 born at 30 wks ,dd1 39+3 ds2 41+5

Very reassuring to hear! And funny you mention moving from one worry to the next in terms of going over/induction. Very true. Doctors never could confirm why he was early but various options (strep b, food poisoning, stress). I've heard my odds are 25% to have #2 early so we shall see. Have been avoiding sex of late as well as mentioned above.

DS - 35 weeks.
DD - 37.5 weeks (although had a show at just 36 weeks, so I knew she was imminent).

My close friend had her DS at 30 weeks, then carried her DD to 41 weeks.

I think the 'no sex' advice is sound: I bled (to varying extents) every time we had penetrative sex in both pregnancies. Whether it was the physical jiggling about or the prostaglandins - or both - there was a definite causal link.

Best of luck!

DiamondChyna · 06/04/2010 16:22

ds- 37 weeks
was warned second would definatly come early by consultant and am currently 41+2 (induction due on 41+5)
every pregnancy is different i think and unpredictable

heth1980 · 07/04/2010 15:32

I had both my DDs at 37+1, however I think it's really rare to have 2 at the same gestation. every pregnancy really is different and I know quite a few women who have had one baby early and then gone overdue with the next. Try not to worry X

girlsyearapart · 07/04/2010 15:47

my sister went into labour at 28 wks, held her off until my nephew was born at 31 weeks.

Both my nieces born approx a week late after sweeps both times.

Milco · 07/04/2010 22:08

I'm curious about this one too...

DS was born at 29+6 - went into labour - no clear reason, though doctors have suggested an infection and DS was ill with Strep B, though not until he was 8 weeks old

Currently expecting DC2 - 30+4 today and counting every day as a bonus. Group B positive this time (wasn't tested before) so have been v nervous, but starting to think it might be possible to go to term. But basically just very pleased to have made it to the 30s this time.

Taking it as easy as possible (with toddler!) but at least free of work stress this time, and quite so many winter germs.

Anyone else with positive stories? (or in fact, any stories, better to have full picture...)

WHITEWINESODA · 08/04/2010 13:50

I had pre-eclampsia with first dd, she was delivered at 34 weeks weighing 5lb3. Second dd was 40+5 and 8lb6. No sign of PE second time round thank goodness!

indie37 · 08/04/2010 14:06

DD1 36 weeks
DD2 32 weeks
But I have a colleague dd1 25 weeks and dd2 32 weeks so I agree with previous poster, every pregnancy is different.

girlsyearapart · 09/04/2010 19:53

If it helps milco the only thing that was wrong with my sister's 2nd and 3rd pregnancies (the ones that did go to term) was the constant questioning from her family and friends about whether she felt ok/had any labour signs etc. How dull for her- think we started at about 28 wks

Good luck

Milco · 09/04/2010 23:37

Thanks girlsyearapart!

Yes, I've been getting a bit of that. But as its still quite early days I'm still taking delight in still being around to get asked . And I did have a bit of a scare (woke in the night with twinges) at 27 weeks, so that of course didn't help.

Since then though (all fingers and toes crossed) been feeling fine...

tvfriend · 13/04/2010 19:55

DD 36 weeks
DS 34+4

oremstango · 22/04/2010 14:11

Just as a bit of an update here I am full-term (37 weeks) in 2 days! I think this is really exciting and just wanted to share the good news as the odds are definitely with you in going full-term after a premie.

I went into labour with my first DD at 28 weeks following a placental abruption and an official '2 minute' labour. Looking back now I realise I had probably been in labour for about two days with everyone telling me the pain was Braxton Hicks. My DD was born about 10 days before her due date lovely water birth in hospital. First DD doing wonderfully well with no problems at all.
