Slightly daft question re. onset of labour

I can't find the answer to this anywhere and will probably forget to ask the midwife at my next appointment...I'm 35 weeks pg with baby #1 and therefore slightly preoccupied with the concept of childbirth!

When your contractions start, do you still feel the baby moving in between? For example if I started to have contractions in the morning but they didn't get strong enough to call mw until evening, would I feel movement from the baby during that day?

I'm just wondering as my (otherwise very active) baby seems to go quiet when I'm having Braxton Hicks, and I wouldn't want to assume that no movement is ok when it isn't once it all starts for real!

I can remember feeling movement early on in labour but when the contractions got painful enough to have to focus on them then I don't remember feeling any movement although I did feel DD2 turn round. I think babies do usually go quiet in the run up to labour. I can remember DS2 having hiccups quite soon before but can't remember feeling him move at all on the day he was born.
The MW will check heartbeat during labour anyway as you may not feel much movement.

i think its normal for babies to go quiet or move less during contractions but i think they should still move inbetween.
when the contractions die down try moving him a little if your worried hes not moving enough call mw
