I just had a small examination, mini sweep, 1 cm dialated, 38 +2 weeks. Didn't hurt at all, and 3 hours later have a little bit of discharge, kinda brownish...(sorry so graphic)

Is this a 'show'? I do have really mild contractions, but they seem to be the same kind I have been having for 2 days, just tight rock hard belly, but not really painful just really uncomfortable...

Does this mean labour will start soon. Does it always start right after the 'show'?

Anyone can tell me their experiences..

Yes it is probably a bit. As the cervix begins to open this can happen. It will probably need to open a bit more, and a show is usually a gloopy blob.

Labour generally begins between immediately and 5 days, but don't worry if it doesn't.

If your discharge smells foul, get yourself seen.

The ready steady baby book says labour can start after the show from about a few hours to a few days or anything in between.

I had my show at 38+5 and am now sitting at 40+5!!

Been having irregular contractions since my show though.

With DD1, I had show 4 days before waters broke though. So was hoping that would be the case this time.

Hopefully its quicker for you!

It means something's happening (your cervix is softening) but it doens't predict what rate things will progress at.

best of luck to you!
