Videoing C-Section

Hi All
I'm having a C section in 4 weeks with my 3rd child due to a dislocated coccyx on the previous 2 births and I just wondered if anyone knew if you were allowed to video the procedure? I'm guessing not because the hospital wouldn't want evidence if they messed up - I'm such a cynic! - but I just thought it would be nice to view what happened once I got home seeing as they put the big screen up during the procedure.

You'll have to ask the hospital. Ours wouldn't even let us take the camera in but i've seen loads of friends photos on Facebook from inside the theatre

Just ask.

If I were an obstetrician or midwife I would not want to be filmed or for there to be someone getting in the way of me doing my job properly. I would find it really off putting and rather they just filmed the baby at very end.

I didn't have a screen with my first ds and saw plenty.

You can watch c-sec footage on a few websites, very interesting.

Congratulations, best of luck!

Thanks guys. I'd hoped i could just sit it somewhere to record so as not to get in the way - I was supposed to start Uni last Sept to study midwifery hence my intrigue!
Just read a thread about sections and I'm feeling a bit stressed about it all now - maybe I should just risk the dislocated coccyx!!

We were allowed to take photos but not video the procedure - for which I am really quite grateful because I am sure DH would have done it!

OK, think I just made a huge mistake of viewing C sections up close on YouTube. I feel really sick now and completely confused about what to do

Oh no, don't be stressed.

I've had both and both were fine and both have their disadvantages and advantages.

Your lady bits will be in good shape sooner and you don't want to risk your coccyx again.

Deep breaths, have faith!

Thanks WowOoo - In tact ladybits is very appealing given I had an episiotomy first time and tearing the 2nd! I read that arnica tablets really aid recovery of section - did you take these?

Don't worry. I've had an emcs and an elcs and they were fine. The elcs was fantastic actually, so calm. I took some arnica into hospital with me but forgot to take it but my recovery was so much quicker after my elcs without the arnica anyway.

Ok, slowly calming down - I think perhaps a sausage sandwich may aid my recovery!

Trip to Holland and Barrett then for Floradix, arnica and hypericum (?)

Didn't bother with arnica. Just strong ish painkillers for first week or two and lots of taking it very easy with my lovely new boy.

Sausage sandwiches are proven to help in almost all situations!
