Hi as im now 9days overdue and im booked in to be induced on thursday, but iv only just recently found out my dp probably wont be able to stay with me after baby is born. So iv started to think about a last minute homebirth.
do you think its possible to plan one this late?
what would i need to think about?
and how do i go about planning it?
I havnt looked into atall so i would just like some help please.

you will be admitted at 08/30 and so will othr women, it is higly unlikely much will happen befoe 10 - 11 am.. in terms of seeing a doc, being exmaned and having the gel pessary given to start the induction,. then you will be monitored for 30 minutes.. then you can leae the ward and potter round.

under the circs i don't think your MWs will be supportive of a hb, due to your high BP , high risk pregnancy but you can make an INFORMED hoice.. ie knowing fully and understanding all risks and benefits of the decision.. to push for a homebirth

however, you might struggle at 8 days over and with medical issues

i know, unfortunately. if i had knew a while ago about hospital rules i would have done all this sooner, oh well i know for next time.

have you thought about how you will cope when DP is sent home if you are not in labour?

tiggz · 21/03/2010 21:49

Yes and i will probably cope exactly same way as after the baby is born...badly

you need to remember everyone is in the same boat, and asking for special treatment won't get you far... get chatting to the ladies on the ward.. and if you need help due to pain of contractions etc you can ask for a bath, or G&A on the an ward. it is hard, but you will cope.... have a look at some breathing excercises whihc can help you focus, get through pain and calm you down and ocnsider a tens machine too
