Labour of babies with different fathers ?

Hi, a bit personal, but I just wondered whether anyone
has had subsequent babies from a different dh or dp ?
I am now due with my dp's baby and am scared this birth is going to be anything but like my ds1's birth.
He was born 6.5 years ago and was a text book birth.

He was born at 38+4 and with this baby and different dp I am now 40+5 !

Does anyone have any input on this ?

Worried terribly about being induced etc

The only difference I've heard of is that the risk of pre-eclampsia is higher with second babies of different fathers than the same.

I suppose it might also make a difference to the size of your babies at birth if your current partner is/was bigger than your ex.

You do not have to agree to an induction. A normal pregnancy is up to 42 weeks. you are only overdue after 42 weeks despite the widely held notion that at 40 weeks you are overdue.

I went into spontaneous labour at 41+3 and it was textbook. I refused an induction because of a horrid one the first time round.

babies don't grow very much if at all after 38weeks, I understand.

the PE risk is the same as with the first child if a subsequent child is from a different partner. The previous poster is saying that it is higher when comparing second children with the same partner. iyswim.

let us know if they start to shroud wave pressure you into having an induction.

Oh that's started already ! Ds1 was born spontaneous at 38+4.
now I'm at 40+6 apparently and I have just had a 2nd sweep today. Got some pinky brown discharge a hour or so ago......?
The midwife has already put me down for an induction date on the 22nd, which is my 42 week date exactly, again apparently ! She basically didn't accept talking about any other option than induction .
Tbh it's the last thing I want, as I was planning water birth this time.....
I have another midwife app this Wednesday if no baby by then, I'm hoping I can discuss further my options for waiting a bit longer, as it should also be a different midwife. Today's was quite butch !

Let's hope it is going to happen now then.

I refused to have a sweep as well. But I had already had a battle with my trust over my home birth and by then they knew that I was not going to take any pressure.

"She basically didn't accept talking about any other option than induction." - This sort of talk is just wrong. It is treating you like a child and removing your right of choice. But I won't go into that as you don't need the hassle and stress today.

If this sweep doesn't work you don't have to accept another one and wait. Babies will come when they are ready.

Even if nothing happens by the 22nd, you don't have to have and induction and tell them that you want 'expectant management'. In brief, they can monitor the condition of the placenta (every day if necessary) by various methods and the baby as well and if all is well and good then just tell them that you will wait.

This way you are likely to get your home birth. Good luck I had one and the fight I had was all worth it.
