Infection after a caesarean

Can anyone tell me whether they suffered from a constant feeling of needing the loo long after having their caesarean? I have an aching in my lower abdomen above my scar, that just won't go away. I know it's not a urinary infection. Has anyone suffered the same, and how long did it last for? I had my c-section 4 months ago.

Hi, never had this with my section, best to get it checked, maybe there was some damage to your bladder during surgery although i think it would of been more apparent before now?!
how do you know its not a urinary infection?
it could be a bladder infection which is different, or it could be you need to drink more as concentrated urine can cause problems.
i tend to get the same feeling your describing when ive been having a lot of sex ( sorry if tmi ).
best to just go to doctors to be safe

Thank you for your response. A test came back negative for the urinary infection. It could be my bladder, it just feels very irritable in that area. I do need to drink more water, but I don't always get time, you know how it is.

I had an infection (MRSA) and had terrible pain on one saide of my scar and a golf ball sized lump just above it, which eventually burst out.
TBH 4 months later its unlikely to be a hospital aquired infection, Im presuming the scar is healed now?
Definately go to the GP.
It could be irritation scar tissue, which I still have and 4 months post delivery I still have days, normally when Ive over done it which cause, that are very achy and painful.

HTH

yeah, i know what you mean lol, i really had to push myself to drink buckets of water around and after my section, my 3 friends who had them done in private hospitals said water was the trick, surgeon reccomended.
i must say it really helped my healing process, i also found too much caffeine and sugar aggrivates my bladder, its horrid because its not painful, but so uncomfortable you can't ignore it can you!
cranberry juice is good for bladders if you find that easier to drink.

Thank you both for your posts, both are re-assuring. My scar has healed well. As you say over-doing it and drinking the wrong things - certainly alchohol I find, does make it worse. I'll get it checked out with the doctor, and fingers crossed I can get it sorted out very soon. Thanks again, it's good to know that it's not unique. Mosschopps30, I hope yours also improves for you.

Hi. Just wondering if you could be constipated? Very common after childbirth and abdo surgery.I am a nurse and worked on Abdo surgery ward also mum of 2.You don't have to go everyday, but when you do go there shouldn't be a major effort. The stools should be soft,if they are balls as opposed to a "log"-sorry,LOL-then you could be constipated.Drink plenty,up fruit intake and consider laxtives.Check with pharmacy if BF.Caffeine can irritate bladder.Barley water also very good for this.If wound has healed unlikely to be infection, but maybe check with nurse at GPs or GP to get it checked.

Thank you for your post. I do go regularly but it can be an effort. I think the idea of upping the fruit is a good one, I hardly touch fruit but I know I should, In fact I'll have an apple right now. I'm also seeing the doc on Friday, so at least I can try what's been suggested and see what happens. Thanks again.
