Hello Im 37 weeks & have finally got around to packing my bag ready to go into hospital! So far this is what I have:-

Me - Nighty to give birth in
Pjs for after
Slippers
Underwear & socks
Pads
Shampoo, conditioner, toothpastes etc
Change of clothes to come home in

Baby - 4 Vests
4 babygrows
Sleepsuit & blanket to come home
Nappies
Wipes
Sudocream
Hat, socks, mitts, booties

Obviously I will get DP to bring the car seat when he picks us up, and maybe another blanket with it. My camera is in my handbag, and my notes are on the table ready to grab on way out. Is there anything else I need? I need to put some sort of snacks/drinks in yet. Feel like ive forgotten something!!

Depending on your hospital, maybe have some ready made formula and some sterilised bottles just in case you are having problems with breastfeeding. The lady acros from me was as hysterical as her baby by the end of one evening as they just were unable to feed. The staff wre very huffy about getting a bottle for her to try (had to get it from neo-natal ward). I felt so sorry for both of them.

Lal
DD was quite small (5 lb 2 oz) and the midwives kept telling me how important it was to feed every 2 hours, and to wake DD if necessary to feed her - so I needed to know the time

plus I just wanted to know when I started feeding her and how long it was taking - but that's just me so I found a clock very helpful, but others might not

Hi thanks all, I did buy lipbalm, its in my handbag somewhere - must put that in & the pillow sounds like a good idea too

Lansinoh cream was billiant for sore cracked nipples (hopefully this won't happen to you, my baby had a tongue tie), also doubles up as a great lipbalm. My mum was slathering lipbalm on me when I was in labour - the gas and air made my lips and mouth sooooooo dry. I also took lucozade tablets which I had during labour (I wasn't allowed to eat but decided I wouldn't tell them about the tablets!). Sounds like you have everything else sorted, but bear in mind babys sick A LOT - I was changing his sleep suit 3 times a day. Muslins may be good to take?

Don't know if you're planning to breast feed or not, but check your hospital's policy on providing formula - mine have now stopped doing it and expect you to provide your own (SMA do pre-made 100ml bottles with sterilized teats - about £15 for 12 which are ideal to take with you). Good luck, it'll be brilliant!

I'd recommend taking more than one nightie to give birth in, and plenty of changes of pants; I got very sweaty and it was nice to change into fresh clothes.

Also make sure your going home outfit will fit; I took a top that had fit me until about 5 months pregnant but it was a bit tight!
