How clean was your hospital?

Following on from the news of hospitals not being clean enough - just wondered about your views?
btw - the hospital I stayed in was lousy - toilets were filthy and I wasnt shown where to put my rubbish/dirty nappies or dirty laundry. There were also no clean covers for my ds crib, so I got dh to bring blankets in from home.Had to walk from recovery room to the ward including stairs after c section- to find no bed....the list is too long!

Chicago, I know that Royal Free did some major work a couple of years ago when we started planning to have a baby. Had DS 9 mths ago in their new midwife run birth centre complete with huge birthing pool. Each room has an en-suite and they even managed to give us tea and toast at 1am after I'd had a shower and we were spending some dazed bonding time with baby. They even offered us seconds which I suspect is completely unheard of in the NHS, so if you're planning on having another maybe go have a look as I suspect things have changed a bit.

in discussions with dh about number3 (ds is only 7 months at the mo) know some people recently that used r.f and had good things to say about it, but we've moved further away now and the thought of travelling in the rush hour from woodside park to hampstead in labour doesn't sit well with me

Another vote for Great Western in Swindon, immaculate, cleaned every day, would even go as far to say as the food was ok too

My local hospital, where I've given birth twice now, is lovely and very clean. I remember the first time I read a thread on here about hospitals being dirty and people having to clean the toilets before using them and I was horrified.

I was in 5 days after dd1 was born and the ward and toilet was cleaned every day and the beds changed. The midwives showed me where to put the dirty sleepsuits and nappies etc. the maternity wards at my local hospital only have 4 beds to one room with a toilet shared between them. There were only 3 of us mums in the ward I was on.

with dd2 I only stayed in over night and I was the only mum in my ward, it was nice to have the whole place to myself. It was still as clean as it had been 6 years before and the midwives just as helpful.
