New ds is only 6 weeks old so bit soon for thinking about dc2 now but just wondering if I'd have to have a vbac next time around??
I had pre eclampsia at 40+2 so was induced and then after 25 hrs they decided I wasn't progressing quick enough so it ended in a emcs.....was a big shock, never considered that I'd have a cs so took a while to get my head round what's happened.... Anyway surgeon was at pains to assure me I could have a vaginal birth next time but I actually don't think I could cope with dissapointment of trying for a vbac but it ending in a emcs, would much rather have a elcs and be prepared for the recovery/know what to expect/and have some control I guess but vbacs seem to be the thing at the mo and seems to be assumed that everyone wants to have a vaginal birth... Ideally I would and do feel I've missed out a bit on "doing it properly" but not so much that I'd risk going through the shock of a emcs again.......anyway long winded way of asking would I be "strongly encouraged" to try a vbac next time or would I be given the option of a elcs straight away??
Cheers

Yeah, no offense intended, but I think you are worrying a bit far in advance.
The odds are that you would be given a choice, although they will talk at length about the risks of elective section -- at the very least they can say that they did their best to make sure you made an informed choice.

Hi there.I had an EMCS have been told that I can have an elective C section or Vbac this time.I said I would never go through labour ever again and would want an elective C section next time, however here I am two years later going for a Vbac!A huge part of it is that I will have a 2 year age gap and I want to be able to pick up/cuddle my older daughter who is now about 2 stone!
However I still change my mind alot, and a crystal ball would be very useful!

So yes you should be allowed a choice although midwives will recommend a Vbac as there are more benefits to a Vbac for both you and the baby so I'm told.

I think you should take a look at the NICE guidelines.
They give the current best practice recommendations, which currently are that you should be offered a C/S.
This may change.

Hospital policy will also vary, as will different consultant's takes on it - fwiw currently LWH, where I am being seen is encouraging me (gently) to try for a VBA2C. 3 yrs ago with DD they were pro-VBAC but certainly did not make it difficult to elect for C/S.
