....drive before before the 6 weeks your meant to wait after a c-section?

or would i be really stupid to do this? I got my section just over 3 weeks ago

why cant you drive anyway? if you can travel in a car as a passenger?

I remember in hospital them saying something about the emergency stop- but was so tired cant remember the reason they gave me for this.

I drove at 4 weeks post section. Saw GP who said I was healing well and was happy for me to drive If I could do an emergency stop.
I also rang Insurance who were happy to cover me with GP's permission to drive

There is no legal or medical requirement to wait for 6 weeks after a CS.

Check with you insurers who will probably way something like 'check with your doctor'. According to the DVLA after any kind of surgery you are considered fit to drive if you can turn sufficiently to look for traffic next to/behind you and perform an emergency stop ie slam on the brakes. If you can comfortably jump up and down you are probably ok ...

I drove round about after 3 weeks of CS. Just make sure your insurer is on board.
Sounds like you are recovering well.

do check with your insurers - a friend of mine was told by insurers, she wouldn't be insured until 6 weeks even though she felt fine.

I drove after 3 weeks. Both GP and insurance company were fine with this!

Just came back from NCT class where we learned most insurers required a six week wait post c-section.

I would imagine the 6 week wait is not fixed in stone but if you do get into an accident, you will need a doctor's note stating that you were fit to drive.
